A youthful, energetically designed restaurant has moved into the turn-of-the-century building block bordered by Kazinczy and Síp Streets.
Aligned with international trends, Central Canteen creates a direct and welcoming atmosphere that consciously counterbalances the neutral world of the office environment. The nearly 300 m² space, framed by two inner courtyards, is flooded with natural light. Here, exposed brick walls, raw materiality, and openly visible mechanical elements create an honest and distinctive atmosphere, while the freestanding box-like volumes defining the functions subtly merge into one flexible, cohesive unit. The dining area, organized around centrally placed benches reminiscent of family dining tables, is defined by refurbished colorful chairs and a composition of diverse lighting fixtures suspended above them. One of the focal points of the interior is the striking blue block, housing the restrooms and featuring a graphic artwork by Rihárd Orosz.
Central Canteen reinterprets dining: it elevates it from the everyday routine and transforms it into a shared social experience — contemporary, yet personal.
The aim of the project was to create a distinctive and youthful communal restaurant within a historic building. The raw material palette, exposed brick walls, and flexible spatial organization establish a contemporary, informal atmosphere that turns dining into a collective experience.
